Falling apart...

Seriously, something is wrong with me the last few weeks. I know I turned 42 last month but I didn't expect old age to hit my body quite so soon.

The week before Christmas I pulled a calf muscle just strolling along to the station which was agony. The same day I ended up with food poisoning and all that entails follow a day later by a monthly migraine!

All cleared up for Christmas day which was as grim as I expected but over for another year and then two days ago I woke up with a crick in my neck that had got so bad I can't move my head, not left or right, not up nor down! Try sleeping with that, it isn't fun I tell you. I ended up propped up sitting in a nest of pillows and cushions to get some rest last night!

Its all a bit ridiculous...

As for next Christmas, I'm determined to do something different and stuff what family may say. I want to take my Mum to a nice hotel for the few days so at least we can relax and get spoiled. I imagine it to me like something out of Miss Marple full of the grey rinse brigade with bingo and tiffin.

Has anyone done this? We are thinking somewhere like Eastbourne so we get the sea air. Any recommendations gratefully received!

It sure sounds like you could use a trip to the spa or to a warm beach or to the ski hill, whatever would be the most relaxing for you! I hope you make the plan for next year, with or without your Mum, as it sounds like staying near home is not working out well.

Dont have any recommendations but going away sure does sound like a great idea! Hope your old body pulls itself together properly soon ;-)

Hope your neck is better!
Just make sure you stay somewhere where the kitchen is open for Christmas! (yes, that is experience speaking :-) !)

I don't have any recommendations either, but we did that here this year and it was great. Nothing like Miss Marple, but then it's Oz not Britain, so I'm not sure what I would expect there. We used to go away every Christmas, I've never had a Miss Marple experience, phew. Much more enjoyable than a crappy family Christmas.
Hope your body is feeling better soon.

Sorry Shev. Weird body things come and go and I hope this is your whole 2012 worth of aches and pains. Getting away, just you and your Mum sounds wonderful. My Mom begged us to come home this year, but no way. Going there means just sitting around and waiting for people that are never on time and don't think of it as an inconveneince to anyone. Last time we were there, we waited. And, we waited. And, we waited some more. And, then we came home and got back to the good life. Lane

Sometimes those stiff neck things are a nasty virus settling in your neck muscles. Heat bags and comfy pillows sounds like the best thing to do. Poor you.
Christmas can be either crappy or wonderful and not too much in between. The escape to a nice hotel sounds a good solution. I'd be looking at a place in the Lake District where they specialise in that sort of thing in Winter but I imagine it would cost the earth. Sounds good though doesn't it? ( Do you think Miss Marple had lots of money? She often moved in wealthy circles didn't she?)
Cheers

Sounds great idea, Shevvy - I'm with you on that one. Wouldn't somewhere in the sun be better?

No recommendations, but it sounds like a fabulous idea! All of those bodily injuries and other assaults were not doubt contributed to by stress.

Hope your New Year is wonderful!
